All time blower pow, bounding with joy, porpoising up out, then plunging back in, snow streaming over my shoulders, kissing my face, timing my panting with my turns so I could breathe, had to spit out a mouthful at times.
Four day total of about a hundred inches of cold smoke powder, temps in the teens. I wouldn’t have made it out of my road to ski today but for the contract snow removal Bobcat clearing my vacant neighbors’ driveways, running his blower coming and going in the road to keep from getting stuck himself.

As the CHP was taking down my license plate number, for parking partially in the roadway, with the big Forest Service truck of the Avalanche Forecasters parked right behind me, trying to tell me it was my fault they had to close the road, (which they close every decent storm due to avi hazard in Emerald Bay), I told him it was worth it, fully amped on the afterglow, and still he let me off with just a warning. Haha I love this mountain town, the skiers are even more incorrigible than the bears.
Remote sensor reported winds blowing 84mph gusting to 122 mph now on the Crest at top of Palisades, which was closed. But this sweet run starts well below the ridgetop, nestled deep in the old growth.
