The wildfire that lit this thing up like a torch, evidently predated the ax cuts, which could well be from the Comstock logging era of the 1860’s, based on other evidence of their presence right here. There is also evidence of long-term native presence. This tree, likely a Cedar, no doubt witnessed much drama in it’s long life and afterlife; the nearly instantaneous emergence of a new botanical/geological era, the Anthropocene, only the sixth great extinction event in the long history of the home planet we share.
