Looked like Goshawk remains, likely at the talons of its bigger cousin a Golden Eagle (both Accipiters), which we have been seeing hanging around the area, and which are known to be testy when it comes to defending their territory. One flew low over our heads recently here in the valley bottom, scoping us out. At home we were seeing a Goshwak hanging around for a while, and found remains of a couple different Cooper’s Hawks (a amaller Accipiter), around this time. Not much can prey on these fiercely adept raptors, but other raptors.
