Approach to Mount Langley 14,026′, goes up Tuttle Creek (left), the summit and our ski line are just visible in the notch at the head of the canyon. We started in sneakers at 7,000′. (these photos are most all RM’s, cheers buddy)
Langley looks so inviting in the morning light, and far.
Below the summit of Mount Langley 14,026′, scoping our sunlit gully, prominently crossing the face.
Looking north from the top of Langley, at Mt. Whitney 14,491′, tallest peak in the continental US at left, and far more massive Mt. Williamson 14,379′ at center. The Owens Valley yawns over ten thousand feet below. (this photo is mine, the rest are RM’s)
This is essentially the reciprocal of the first image, from the top of the ski line, looking toward our trailhead at the base of the forest.
Lurking above alkaline Owens Lake (el. 3,560′), the Panamint Mountains, beyond, and Death Valley (el. 0′) beyond that.
Can just make out the ski tracks. It was firm, but edge-able.
