We toured up under the northeast face of the Thumb (13,356′) skylined at right, behind the sunlit crag in it’s foreground, covering 5500′, from elevation 6,400′-11,900′, 12 mi., 8:40am-5 pm. Ed Lane Peak (13,577′) is at left, on the Pacific Crest
Birch Creek Pass (12,870′) at center, taken from Birch Lake (10,800′)
Birch Peak (13,602′) Glad I had two cameras along, this one was giving me the blues.
Dropping into the Owens Valley, with the Inyo Mountains rising another six thousand feet beyond. Death Valley is just around the corner.
