Walked 400′ vert on trail to get to snow, then skied 6700′ vert., 13 miles total, in 10 hours
Skiing blind off the backside, I ran out of snow here on top of the rockband, which didn’t surprise me particularly, and I was prepared to go back up the way I came, but was able to climb the lower angle gully next door instead.
This Whitebark Pine lives in a chuting gallery, a frequent target for avalanches and rockfall, evidenced by the scars and embedded rock.
I skied down along the lookers left side of snowfield, then cut across here searching for a way down through, in vain.
Back up on the ridgetop, my skin track from the run before, is just visible in the sun, climbing straight up the bowl, right of center.
Skied a few runs to the lake.
