… but it ain’t here no more. This photo is from the next day. And now, years later, this whole Park is 99.9% Cheatgrass free. I returned to this patch to hand pick more or less weekly for a couple months in the early summer for a few years, periodically following up, and now I havent seen a single one here for at least five. Mostly the native Antelopebrush (Purshia tridentata) above, has grown in to replace it here. Weeding works, it just takes a little effort, at the right times. And, you know, giving a shit. It’s the perfect antidote to ubiquitous, soul-sucking consumerism. It’s about the searching, not the having. It’s the other side of the acquisition coin, the value being in what you leave behind. And when you can’t find any, then we all have won.
