Hiking into Mt. Whitney (14,505′) in my leather lace-up telemark boots. They may be uncomfortable to hike in, but they also don’t ski very well. I brought my home-made cannibalized plastic alpine ski boot cuffs that I buckled on for a bit more control on descents, and even more discomfort, the state-of-the-art hybrid BC ski system.
