Headed towards Lost Corner Mountain and across the Sierra to ski the west slope, but first a quick south face descent, and schuss upcanyon.
Rootwood flowing around the rock like a cascade
visiting old friends in Rockbound Valley, and I do mean old, like most of a thousand years
Looking down my straight line, cairned route, crossing right to left.
Nice ski conditions in the skatepark
Skiing right down my summer route, including circling the top of this cairn just poking out of the snow pack.
Big empty Rockbound Valley, a land apart
So many specimen Sierra Junipers on this big west slope
Skied right on my straight line, cairned route, pointing at the top of the Three-pin Ramp
Nice protected looking spot, unless the wind is blowing. Snow reveals how much objects like trees or rocks guide the wind behavior and impacts.
Nice conditions here on Rattlesnake Ridge as well, which is a treat. Generally, I only come here out the back door, when the skiing is crap at my usual ski peaks, which generally means it is here too.
Even nice turns to the creek below the Striped Crag
The bowed bough boulder, another familiar landmark on my long journey down my home canyon.
