Above the Devils Washbowl, we can now see to where Palisade Creek comes in to the middle Kings from the north left, where the JMT runs, where we hiked summer before last from the other side of the range. Mt. Giraud 12608′ is in the far distance, across Palisade Creek. The Sierra Crest itself is out of sight further still. Today I made it up to that trail crossing, hop skotching across Pali creek before retreating at the sight of masses of humanity on that long skinny spring break party from Mexico to Canada known as the Pacific Crest Trail.
