In the next canyon to the south at this elevation we have the busy highway up the analogously dramatic Kings Canyon National Park. Here in the Middle Fork of the Kings we have this lightly used tread. In the nine days we spent here we passed one person, and saw another at a distance. For five days we saw no one. We have found this is the time frame for us to stop mistakenly hearing human voices in the river sounds. After this much solitude, we just hear the river.
